Here's what the critics have to say!

Odessa at the Right Brain Project

“Her [Schaufler’s] ebullience and friendly, warm demeanor (not to mention an endearing accent that, to my lay ears, at least seemed that it could be Ukrainian) invite the audience into the RBP’s version of the catacombs… Since Schaufler’s role is largely (or maybe completely) improvisational, it falls entirely to the actress to introduce this world to the audience, and she does a wonderful job”

- Karen Topham, American Theatre Critics Association member (Review: Odessa, ChicagoOnStage.com)

“…it’s Alison Schaufler’s extended improvised greeting as Ukranian teenager Masha that really sets the foundation for the show. Not only is she charming, but she prepares us for the proximity of the forthcoming performances, the dimness of the lighting and – even more importantly – immerses us in the world of the play.”

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at Hackmatack Playhouse

“Actress Alison Shaufler as Jolene Oakes, dupe #2, is a vivacious credit card carrying shopaholic cowgirl from Oklahoma. She’s a gun toting western bombshell, dressed to kill. Jolene is a sexy firecracker clad in a pair of 14 carat gold cowboy boots. Her foot stomping dance number sets the stage ablaze in hee-haw--a real highlight of the show.”

- Greg Morell (Review: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels; JournalTribune.com)

“Another standout is the adorable Alison Shaufler, who plays Jolene Oaks. Jolene offers a side story, which could easily be lost in any production. However, Shaufler works starkly and grips the audience with her stage presence. Her song, "Oklahoma" is a fantastically fun production number and she is joy to watch.”

Ruthless! At Hackmatack Playhouse

Ruthless 13.jpg

“The role of Tina, the child, is played by Alison Schaufler, an adult, whose voice and mannerisms are on the mark; a child that chills you to the bone, while making you laugh out-loud.”

- Jeanné McCartin (A 'Ruthless' comedy at Hackmatack Playhouse; seacoastonline.com)

“A great duo, Alison Schaufler plays a very young child, very well. She is cutesy and awkward in all the right ways. Schaufler has all of the energy and charisma of a seven year old, without it feeling arduous or clunky. She similarly transitions into her second act scenes smartly. She manages her character's arch skillfully and is a joy to watch throughout.”

- Trevor Worden (BWW Review: RUTHLESS at Hackmatack Playhouse; broadwayworld.com)

“Having an adult in the child’s role adds an extra level of disbelief to the proceedings, but Schaufler handles the job well and realism isn’t an issue anyway. One of her best scenes has her auditioning for a coveted part and gamely running through spot-on parodies of various dance styles…  [Both she and] Schaufler revealed fine singing voices, if pushed intentionally a little to extremes.”
